FAQs

  • All our sessions are run by Tarryn Dee, Occupational Therapist & Bec Taylor, Speech Pathologist,  with years of experience in LEGO®-based therapy & working with children. We have a love for creating neuro-affirming spaces where every child can shine.

  • Construction Club is for children and teens aged 4–18 years. Not sure if it’s the right fit? Reach out — we’re always happy to chat about your child’s unique needs.

  • With it being co-led by Bec and Tarryn in every session, groups will intentionally target:

    Speech Pathology Support:

    • Social communication (turn-taking, perspective-taking, collaborative problem solving)

    • Receptive language (following instructions, group plans, understanding roles and new concepts)

    • Expressive language (giving instructions with increasing concepts/details, explaining ideas, negotiating plans, describing builds)

    •  Self-advocacy and functional communication within a group setting

    Occupational Therapy Support:

    • Sensory regulation to support engagement and participation

    • Emotional regulation to support collaboration in the group and with others

    • Fine motor skills, hand dominance, pencil grip, fine motor planning and coordination, and hand strength

    • Motor planning, sequencing, planning and executive functioning support

  • Yes! If you’re self-managed or plan-managed, you can absolutely use your NDIS funding with us. You can use the same funding as you would for 1:1 speech pathology and occupational therapy.

  • Some families may be eligible for Medicare or private health insurance rebates. Please check with your provider to confirm what rebates may apply.

  • Lego-based therapy is a well-researched program delivered all over the world! LEGO is a widely loved yet very versatile interest among people of all ages.

  • Easy! Just fill out our Enquiry Form & we’ll be in touch to talk through your child’s needs & our next available sessions. We can’t wait to meet you.

  • Every session includes both structured and unstructured play so children can connect in different ways. A typical session might include:

    ●      Natural, supported opportunities to connect through free LEGO® play

    ●      Structured, role-based team LEGO® building

    ●      Creative team LEGO® projects

    ●      Reflection & parent show and tell

    ●      We also mix in fun extras like games and opportunities for movement and regulation

  • Construction Club is effective because it’s:

    ●      Interest-based → using LEGO® as a motivating and enjoyable focus

    ●      Play-based → learning happens naturally through play

    ●      Functional → children practise skills that matter in everyday life

    ●      Flexible → sessions vary in structure, challenge, and complexity to match each child’s needs

    ●      Strengths-based → we celebrate what each child brings and build on it

    ●      Small-group → groups of up to 6, supported by 2 therapists, mean activities can be personalised & every child has space to shine

It’s play with a powerful purpose.

  • We welcome families into the club atmosphere and have a strong sense of community: our current locations have outdoor spaces for carers and siblings to hang out!

During the sessions themselves, we like to keep this a child-only space, so they can develop their sense of ownership and independence. Families join at the end of each sessions for a show & tell.

  • If your child doesn’t currently have an interest in LEGO but you are interested in our approach, we’d still love to chat! We bring lots of other themes into the LEGO-based activities and for that reason it can appeal to a wide variety of interests.
